Unlocking Maryland's Resources Through Local Car Donations

Our mission, our story, and why this work matters locally.

How we started

Chesapeake Chariots began in a small neighborhood in Maryland, where a group of community advocates identified a critical gap: many residents were eligible for government assistance programs but were unaware of their options. They realized that countless families were struggling without access to vital resources like SNAP and Maryland Medicaid simply because they hadn’t received the right information. Determined to change this, they brainstormed ways to connect neighbors with these benefits. It was during these discussions that the idea of vehicle donation emerged as a sustainable funding model to support these efforts.

By pairing car donations with a community-driven research initiative, Chesapeake Chariots was born to provide a platform where generosity meets necessity. Every vehicle donated provides the much-needed funding for our free benefits-research service, enabling us to advocate for those who may not know they qualify for programs such as Temporary Cash Assistance or WIC. Our mission reflects the spirit of Marylanders helping one another, ensuring our neighbors are better connected to essential services.

Our mission
